A number of archaeologists believe that a folk civilization has returned from ancient time buried under the sands of the Empty Quarter, although no one has discovered it.

Climate of the Empty Quarter

The Empty Quarter prevails in the continental climate, very hot in summer and cold in winter, while rain is rare. Sandstorms blow throughout the year, the maximum summer temperatures range from 40 to 50 degrees Celsius, and sometimes up to 60 degrees, while the smallest winters reach from minus 7 degrees.

The Empty Quarter is one of the most oil-rich regions in the world, as it contains a huge oil reserve that was discovered under the sand. The Shaybah field in the middle of the Empty Quarter is the main site for the production of light Arab oil in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the Aghwar field which is the largest oil field in the world , As it extends southward to the northern regions of the Empty Quarter.
