These colorful lakes are located within the Kilimoto National Park, which includes many green areas, whether mountainous or plains, and it is a natural reserve, which includes many varieties of plants and animals threatened with extinction, and the inhabitants of the region consider these lakes a sacred place; in their beliefs are inhabited by the souls of the dead, Kelly Mutu is a volcanic mountain located in the village of Quanara on the island of Flores, on top of which there are three extremely beautiful volcanic lakes, characterized by the color change of each of them due to chemical reactions between the minerals contained therein, in addition to the volcanic activity of them, and they are called: Danao Teja and Rana, because of their red, blue, and white colors that do not last due to their color change over time, and by returning to the name of the mountain (Kelly Moto), then it divides its meaning into two parts: the word Kelly; meaning the mountains, and the word Moto; means boiling liquid, and the following We explain three lakes:

  • The first lake: It is located east of the mountain, and its name means in the local language to residents of Lake Flores (Enchanted).
  • Central second lake: Its name also means in the local language, the lake of youth, and it connects with the first and second lakes, with one crater, meaning that they are adjacent to the place, but separated by a rock barrier similar to the wall.
  • West Third Lake: Its name means in the language of the inhabitants there are the elderly or the wise, and it is separate from the other lakes.

The village of Labuan Bajo West

It is a traditional fishing village located in the west of the island of Flores; it was recently considered a local diving front, and a jumping station through trips heading towards Komodo Island, and near this village there are many tourist places such as the Petrified Forest, and caves such as Batu Kermen Cave which contains Shiny white limestone, and bats and spiders abound.
