All nature resorts from One & Only will provide exceptional experiences beyond imagination, celebrating the rich sites in which they are located, and open the door to exploring the unearthed mysteries of nature, through inspiring and organized tours specifically for the most distinguished travelers around the world. The architectural design of each of these resorts, designed in small sizes and out of reach, respects the surrounding environment and highlights the best aspects of the natural beauty of the place. From development through to operation, there will be only minimal impact on the environment, while guests will have the opportunity to “give back” to nature through interactive experiences with local communities that have been carefully designed to suit the destination that embraces the resort.
After the great success achieved by Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley Resort in Australia, as the first hotel in the world to receive a carbon accredited certificate internationally for being carbon-free, all nature resorts from One & Only will aim to achieve this distinction. In addition, our taste experiences will be based on the best seasonal, regional and, where possible, organic products from small local farms and local farmers. The various rooms offered by the resorts will focus on privacy and stunning views, as nature resorts from One & Only will offer luxury in its finest style. Like all One & Only Resorts, natural resorts will celebrate the local environment, showcase the country’s rich history, and reflect the local culture through its designs with the aim of attracting contemporary travelers looking for ultimate luxury.
Heading to Africa
It will be joined by the Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley Resort, one of the only natural resorts of One & Only, One Wind Only Nyongwe House and One & Only Gorillas Nest, both in Rwanda. Designed to accommodate its natural environment, One & Only Nyongwe House is located in Gisakura, a tea plantation located on the edge of Nyongwe National Park. Nyungwe is one of Africa’s oldest forests rich and diverse, with 13 species of primates that represent 20% of the monkeys in Africa and 75 different species of mammals.
The luxury suites and villas will be contemporary in design, but with traditional African touches, each overlooking the nature of Africa and its vast spaces, and will include private balconies and fireplaces dedicated to setting fire. Guests can explore the National Park including chimpanzee discovery trips, black and white colobos monkeys, gray cheeky monkeys, and Kameranzovo waterfalls. Bird watching that belongs to more than 275 species in the surrounding green areas is not to be missed, including giant Hornbells, large blue Tracos, and red-breasted falcons, which are best for bird watchers, and guests can also enjoy cultural tours. One & Only Nyongwe House starts receiving guests in July 2020.

One & Only Gorillas Nest is located near the village of Kingi, and it sits imaginatively on the slopes of Virunga Volcanoes Group. In the middle of the camphor tree forest, this stunning resort will offer stunning views of the hills of Rwanda and the cliffs of the Volcanoes National Park. Guests will be able to discover the enchanting habitat of mountain gorillas, which is a rare adventure, as Rwanda is one of only three countries in the world where endangered mountain gorillas live. Experts estimate that only 780 mountain gorillas are still present, and a third of them are in Rwanda. Efforts to maintain them are funded by providing a very limited amount of permits, and funds are allocated to combat illegal fishing and local businesses. However, after more than 40 years of preserving nature and the incubating environment, efforts have contributed to a growing breeding of mountain gorillas, with an increase of 14% in the past 12 years. In addition to the gorilla trek, guests will also be able to discover golden monkeys, as well as visit the Diane Vossi Karysuk camp.
The detailed hotel accommodations will celebrate the guests ’desires of the place and the natural elements that will emerge throughout the resort, as they will be embodied in the designs of public and private spaces in it. Traditional African cuisine will be served outdoors, and what is known as Puma, making it an ideal place to chat about the adventures that guests have made during the day and enjoy the fruits and vegetables from the resort garden. The resort will also provide a One & Only spa and fitness center, which draws its ambiance from the surrounding environment with treatments using traditional African elements, with the latest advanced technology.
