Tourism Authority and the registration of archaeological and heritage sites
The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage paid attention to the path of registering heritage sites in the World Heritage List as an important activity that contributes to highlighting the Kingdom’s cultural heritage globally, in addition to preserving the historical, archaeological and diverse richness of the Kingdom, and rehabilitating these sites in accordance with the standards of specialized international organizations, where the Commission works to register Heritage and archeological sites in the list of architectural heritage within the program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to care for cultural heritage, which includes a system of programs and projects to develop national heritage sites and to define and preserve their historical value.
Note that the authority has designated a department for the registration of sites in UNESCO in the antiquities sector in the authority that includes specialists and experts in this field, and it has the direct supervision and follow-up by Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the authority, who attaches this track special importance to his important national role.
