Aqaba Archaeological Museum is the official museum in the city of Aqaba and one of the most important places of tourism in Jordan in the southern region of the country.
The museum is located in the old area, near the historic Aqaba Castle, and the famous Flagstaff, and includes artifacts dating back to the Bronze Age.
The building hosting the museum was a palace of Sharif Hussain, founder of the Hashemite State, and it was rebuilt shortly after the First World War.
The museum was founded in 1989, to embrace monuments dating back 4000 years, and aims to provide historical evidence that confirms that the city is one of the oldest human settlements in the Middle East.
