The Berlin Zoo opened in August 1844 AD in the heart of Berlin, in the Charlottenburg district, minutes away from the monument and its tourist attraction, the Pillar of Victory.
Thanks to King Frederick William III of Prussia and his great passion for exotic animals, he laid the foundation for the Berlin Zoo to be the first zoo in Germany and ninth around the world.
The zoo covers an area of 34 hectares, and includes about 17,000 different species of animals. The park annually receives more than 3 million visitors from all over the world.
In 1913 a fish park was established, which features a picturesque aquarium and marine life with a variety of fish and beautiful marine creatures and coral reefs and includes a shark aquarium.
Berlin Zoo includes a unique and rare group of animals, especially those that everyone is looking to see such as the polar bear, and the giant panda.
The park is easily accessible due to its location in the middle of Berlin and its proximity to other tourist places in Germany.
