Luxor Museum Museum of Luxor This place contains inside the ancient Egyptian history and a rare collection of exhibits covering a time span of more than 4 thousand years, from pre-Christian times until the Islamic era, on an area of 1595 square meters.
Luxor Museum is located on the east bank of the Nile in Luxor, and it is embraced on the south by the Luxor Temple and on the north by the Karnak Temple, and was designed to be facing the Nile, and was opened for the first time to the public in 1975, and is one of the most important tourist attractions in Egypt.
Things to do in Luxor Museum
• Let the beginning of your journey start from the Luxor Garden, where the modern kingdom is, and you can see the wonderful exhibits and rock and limestone sculptures dating back to the era of the Pharaohs.
• Then pass through the door of the large glass museum up through a narrow slope, and from the first floor you can see a wonderful and distinctive collection of historical sculptures and colorful coffins with decorations that were added to the museum in 1989.
• Enjoy watching the statue of Thutmose III, the greatest of Pharaoh in that era, the length of this statue reaches 90 cm, and was made from a group of rare rocks.
Watch the royal mummies and statues of Ramesses the First and Ahmose the First, and a unique collection of Coptic monuments.
Another slope leads to the ground floor near the exit door where the cow’s deity is located, which is a head made of black wood inlaid with gold.
Near the exit door, to your left you will find a miniature hall of 16 out of 22 statues found at Luxor Temple in 1989, all of which are masterpieces of Egyptian sculpture, but what distinguishes this group is a quartzite statue that is 2.45 meters long.
