The construction of the Heidelberg Zoo as an institution began in 1933, and it opened its doors to welcome the public at the end of the following year.
New facilities are added to the park periodically as an expansion system for possession of all types of wild, water and amphibious animals. The park embraces many rare and endangered animals, as well as children facilities, and is one of the tourist destinations in Germany and one of the prominent landmarks of Heidelberg.

Activities you can do
• You and your children can enjoy the nature of the garden, which includes, along with animals, various plant facilities to match the quality of the creatures they embrace.
Then you can start your tour by seeing rare and endangered animal species, such as the Syrian brown bear, Sumatran tigers, Asian lions, and many others.
• The garden also includes different types of monkeys that your children will surely love, including the little silk monkey with a white face.
• You must visit some of the types of birds included in the garden, which include the beautiful flamingo and mandarin ducks, and kay parrot.
You can also see daily offers to feed some animal species, such as owls, elephants, gorillas, and pelicans, along with lions and tigers.
And your kids will be thrilled by watching the usual mega show of smart black sea lions that jump, dance and roll, then gracefully stand on their hands.
• Finish your day with a snack, and your kids can have fun in the children’s playground, then you can buy some souvenirs from the garden store.
