Byblos Castle Byblos Castle is a Crusader castle in the city of Jubail, and was known in the Crusades times as the castle of Ghiblet or Gebelet, and was built in the 12th century AD from the original limestone and remains of Romen structures that existed in the region, and was surrounded by a water trench, It was inhabited by members of the Lords of Geblet.
Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi captured the city of Al-Jubail and its castle in 1188 AD, then partially dismantled the walls in 1190 AD, and later, the Crusaders regained Byblos and rebuilt the fortifications of the castle, and it can be said that it is one of the most important places of tourism in Jubail that highlights the rich history of the country.
The Crusader castle of Jbeil Lebanon is the finest example of this type of fortress from that historical era, as the building style mixes Castrum castles with Torres, so that the result is an almost square set of walls reinforced with angled towers, built around a central tower, thus forming two layers of defense.
