Eyup Sultan Mosque is one of the Istanbul mosques located outside the city walls in the Sultan Ayoub neighborhood of the European part of Istanbul, near the famous Golden Horn, and the establishment of the current building dates back to the beginning of the 19th century AD, and the mosque includes a shrine that represents the tomb of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari.
The construction of the old mosque complex dates back to 1458 AD, and by the end of the 18th century AD, the mosque was in ruins as a result of earthquakes, and Sultan Selim III ordered the entire structure to be withdrawn and rebuilt in 1798 AD, then the eastern minaret was rebuilt in the original style by Mahmoud II in 1822 CE.
