The Umrah Palace, or Qusayr Umrah, is one of the most famous desert castles located in the East of Jordan, and near the Azraq specifically. The palace was built in the early eighth century AD, the Umayyad Caliph Al-Walid bin Yazid, which is one of Jordan’s most important historical tourist sites.
Qusayr Amra is distinguished as an important example of the first Islamic art and architecture, and what stands today is a small rural cabin for a larger building, and the palace was used for royal holidays, according to what some of the murals that still exist in the interior ceilings of the building suggest.
The palace was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which helped raise its profile among the tourism destinations in Amman, Jordan, which are worth a visit.
