Museums, mosques and monuments

Not one of Istanbul’s corners (monuments) is not without memorials, historical buildings, especially museums and mosques, and for this reason, the tourist options are many and varied, and the most important of these destinations are:

  • The Blue Mosque: It is also called the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, which is characterized by its six minarets, its beautiful domes visible from a distance, and inside it is decorated with white tiles, and blue in the form of flowers, and its museum full of Turkish artifacts. It is worth noting that this mosque was built in 1609 AD.
  • Hagia Sophia (English: Hagia Sophia): It was built as a church in the sixth century AD, and it is characterized by the magnitude of its construction, and its beauty from the inside, where mosaics, beautiful decorations exist, in addition to its colored dome.
  • Topkapi Palace Museum (in English: Topkapi Palace Museum): It is the palace of Sultan Mehmet, which consists of several adjacent buildings, separated by squares, as it contains many rare artifacts, in addition to its distinguished location over one of the seven hills of Istanbul, and its picturesque view of the Bosphorus.
  • Turkish and Islamic Art Museum (in English: Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts): And which abounds in artistic pieces from the Ottoman, Seljuk and Mamluk era, where there are about 40,000 pieces, such as: copies of the Holy Qur’an, textiles, coins, and many others.
  • Galata Tower (English: Galata Tower): It is one of the most striking monuments in Istanbul due to its height, conical shape, and old building dating back to the fourteenth century AD, and it gives its visitors a complete view of all the old Istanbul areas.

Bridges

Istanbul contains many bridges that connect its edges together. The Galata Bridge and Ataturk Bridge extend between the Golden Horn and Beyoglu District, so parts of these two bridges rise at certain times of the day to open the way for ships to pass underneath, as there is a bridge below Galata, which in turn transports passengers in the city through the water, as Turkey built in Istanbul three of the largest bridges suspended in the world on the Bosphorus Channel, namely: the first Bosphorus Bridge length of 1,074 meters, and the second Bosphorus Bridge (Sultan Al-Fatih Bridge) 1,090 meters long, and the third Bosphorus Bridge (Sultan Selim Bridge) is 1,408 meters long, in addition to two tunnels that cut the channel below the water; one for cars, the other for the train.

The location of the city of Istanbul, located between the continent of Asia and the continent of Europe, is very important, as the city is considered a destination for shopping. And jewelry, and the spice bazaar, which contains hundreds of types of spices, and herbs, in addition to that in the city many of the shops, and modern shopping centers.
