The year 1978 witnessed a tremendous increase in the population of these islands, as their number doubled from 100,000 to 200,000, and in 1985 the population growth rate rose to a peak of 3.4%, and with the entry in 2007 of the birth the population census reached nearly 300 Thousand people.

The Islamic religion is the official religion in the Maldives, where studies indicate that 100% of the population of the Maldives are Muslims, and the Maldivian Constitution stipulates that the Islamic religion must be for all residents of the country, with no citizenship granted to those who condemn otherwise, and the constitution also provides The government must implement the teachings and laws of Islam and stay away from everything that contradicts that, as most of the residents of the Maldives adhere to the teachings of Islam, and this can be seen in their official and religious celebrations.
