Robben Island, one of the most important tourist attractions in South Africa, is located in the natural table bay, 6.9 km west of the Bluebergstrand coast in Cape Town
Robben Island is approximately oval, 5,07 square kilometers, and it is a flat island, a few meters above sea level.
The island has been used as a headquarters for political prisoners and dangerous and convicted criminals since 1961 AD, and it continued to perform this role until 1996.
Nelson Mandela, the former Nobel Prize-winning country president, spent two-thirds of his prison terms before the fall of apartheid, a heritage site locally, and on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Activities you can do
• You will arrive on the island through a fun 35 to 45 minute cruise off the coast of Victoria and Alfred.
• Once you get off the ferry, you’ll find buses waiting for visitors to wander around the island’s landmarks, but don’t forget to take pictures of the prisoners’ quarries.
• Your tour begins with a visit to the prison, specifically the Nelson Mandela dungeon for about 18 years, which he visited several times after he became president.
• Then the tour continues around the prison, where your guide is a former guest, who shares visitors with some of the traditions that you were following.
• You will also see the Karamat mosque, the lighthouse, some of the existing archaeological ships, the museum, the island’s penguins and birds, until you end up at the blue frame.

For adults over 18 years old is 340 rand, equivalent to $ 25.52.
For children under 18 years of age 190 rand, equivalent to 14.26 USD.
