The city of Manama was an important commercial center for the northern Arabian Gulf region from a long time ago, as the city’s economy depended on fishing activities, pearl extraction, boat building, and on the import of goods, but the discovery of oil in 1932 contributed greatly to the revival of the national economy and improvement Infrastructure, and the establishment of many development projects, economic institutions, financial centers, and modern ports. Manama has become one of the most important ports in the Arab Gulf.
