Riyadh city

Riyadh is the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the derivation of the name of the city is due to the plural of the word “Rawda” in Arabic, which means gardens and meadows. This designation is derived from the fertility of the natural land in which the region is distinguished. Above the sea level is the eastern side of the Najd plateau, a rocky plateau character in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula.

A brief history of Riyadh

In the pre-Islamic era, Riyadh was called “Hajar-e-Yamama”, and it was the capital of Yamamah Governorate, whose rulers dominated the middle and east of the Arabian Peninsula. The world and the famous explorer Ibn Battuta visited the place, describing it as a city of canals and trees. After a later period in the seventeenth century, Ibn Duwas took control of the area and built a single wall in it. This wall surrounded the various oasis towns in one city that they called Riyadh.

The mid-twentieth century witnessed the growth of the city of Riyadh, as it transformed from an arid desert city into a populated city, then King Saud took power, and in 1950 AD he worked to modernize the city, establishing a zone in which to establish the royal family, establishing new patterns of residential settlements, and connecting neighborhoods by road Main, and during the nineties, Riyadh became a modern city, and the administrative center of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
