Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan

Tashkent is an Asian city located in the northeastern corner of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and it represents its administrative capital since 1930, and the largest city between its cities and the cities of Central Asia, where it is inhabited by 2,829,300 people according to the statistics of 2020, and in addition, the Tashkent is the cultural and economic center of Central Asia. About the history of the city of Tashkent

The roots of the city of Tashkent extend throughout ancient history, as it is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, as it was first mentioned during the first century BC, and it enjoyed the presence of Arabs in it during the seventh century AD, then it became an important commercial center on the ancient caravan route between Samarkand and Beijing And, in the thirteenth century, the city came under the control of Genghis Khan, but in the following century it became subordinate to the Timurid Empire, and it remained on that until the rule of the Khanate of Khokand, then the Russian forces in 1865 AD. In 1930, Tashkent became the capital of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Uzbekistan, then the capital of the country after its independence.

Tashkent includes many landmarks and wonderful places, and the following are mentioned for their most important:

  • History Museum: It is one of the most important museums of the country, as it contains within it many traditional handicrafts and historical artifacts that express the history of Turkestan 5,000 years ago, and until the present time.

  • Corso Bazaar: It is a lively and active market that is considered the most popular for farmers there, knowing that it is located in the old part of the city, and it includes many shops, and commercial stalls.
  • Earthquake Memorial: It is a stone monument that expresses the earthquake of 1966.
  • Al-Sogharah Mosque: It is a wonderful religious landmark distinguished by its magnificent Islamic architecture, and it is also known as the White Mosque, in relation to the color of the marble in it.
