Sanaa city

The city of Sana’a is considered the capital of the Republic of Yemen, and its name means “fortified place”. It is located at the western foot of Mount Naqam, and rises above the sea level by a distance of 2,200 meters. It is located in the western part of the land of Yemen, between latitude 15.35 degrees and longitude 44.21 degrees. And its location is located between the western mountain range that extends from the northern side to the southern side of the land of Yemen.

History of Sanaa

Sana’a is one of the oldest cities in the Arabian Peninsula, and the country was invaded by the King of Persia who invaded it twice, and was subjected to the rule of the Ethiopians for nearly fifty years, and in the meantime it was built as a large cathedral, and in the late sixteenth century Turan Shah invaded the land of Sanaa, and after the fall of The Ottoman Empire, Sanaa gained independence.
The late twentieth century witnessed a significant increase in the population of Sana’a, as they numbered in the early sixties about 35,000 people, and increased to more than 400,000 people in the mid-eighties, and in the early twenty-first century the urban bloc in the region reached 1,000,000 people, and this population increase led to The city of Sanaa expanded in all directions, and in 1986 the city of Sanaa was classified as a World Heritage Site.
