Conakry, the capital of Guinea

Conakry is the official capital of the state of Guinea, located in the western side of the country, and it is the largest city in Guinea, and this name was named after a local village that was inhabited by the people of Soso.   • Mamadou Poirou camp: The Mamadou Poirot camp represented the Guinean concentration camp in Conakry, as it practiced the most brutal atrocities against the people of Conakry during the Torre era.
  • The Great Mosque: The Grand Mosque is the fourth largest mosque in Africa. It was opened in 1982, and can accommodate approximately 25,000 worshipers. The mosque gardens also include the tombs of Alpha Yaya and Samory Ture.
  • Conakry National Museum: Conakry National Museum was founded in 1960 AD, and it includes the largest collection of masks, musical instruments, and others in Guinea.
  • St. Mary’s Cathedral: The cathedral is one of the beautiful buildings in the country and is yellow and red in color.
  • Nations PalaceThe main purpose of building the Palais des Nations was to provide a place for the Organization of African Unity conference in 1984, but the conference was suspended due to the death of Sekou Toure.
  • Other places to visit: Tourists can visit Sumba Falls, Atoll Island, Conakry Botanical Gardens, De Pebble Palace, Jamal Abdul Nasser University, and many other areas.

Conakry climate

The coastal region of Guinea, in which Conakry is located, is characterized by its climate for tropical rainforests. The periods of precipitation start from April to November, and the temperatures are uniform and the humidity prevails throughout the year, with an average temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature is about 23 degrees Celsius.
