Haradh city
Haradh is considered one of the many desertions that exist in Saudi Arabia, which enjoys its distinct location, as it passes through the line heading from the city of Al-Kharj to the United Arab Emirates, which is known as the Batha line, and therefore it is a stop for the transit break, back and forth.
Location
Haradh is considered one of the administrative centers affiliated to Al-Ahsa Governorate located in the eastern region, where it is located in the southern side of it. As for the city of Hofuf, it is located in the southwestern side of it, where it is about a hundred and sixty kilometers away, and a distance of three hundred and twenty kilometers from Dhahran city, either. From the city of Riyadh, it is two hundred and seventy-three kilometers away, and it is considered the meeting point between the city of Al-Ahsa, with the regions of the Central Arabian Peninsula, on the desert road.
Haradh is divided into three sections, the first section includes the old Haradh, the second section includes the Haradh scheme, and the third section includes the project.
Etymology
The origin of the name of this migration is unclear, as the word Haradh means, according to the Arabic language, corruption that afflicts either the mind, or affects the body, or strikes doctrine. Al-Azhari mentioned that this name is attributed to a place of water, known by the people of the desert.
Date
Haradh has an ancient history, where it is mentioned that the first inhabitants of it were the Banu Hilal tribe, and after them many tribes came to follow it, and the last of these tribes are still known today in the Al-Ahsa region are the tribe of Al-Marra. It is distinguished in its mediation of the most famous and ancient desertions in the northern part of the Empty Quarter. These desertions are:
- Al-Taweelah, located on the eastern side.
- Yibreen, located on the southern side.
- Virtue, located on the north side.
In the past, it was a semi-submerged area in the Empty Quarter, that no one knows, except those who rested in it during its passage of it, because it contains some wells of fresh water, which is intended by everyone who took this desert road.
It is considered the year one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine AD, the year of transformation in relation to the history of Haradh, in order to discover oil in it, and then it turned from an unknown place, to a major industrial zone.
There are several factories and companies in Haradh today, such as the gas plant, as well as a factory for extracting gas liquids, and they belong to the famous Saudi Aramco company, in addition to the presence of a dairy factory that belongs to Nadec Company, which is the National Agricultural Development Company, and the presence of an agricultural project, as well as a train station Which greatly contributed to facilitate communication with other regions.
