Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the world and the most famous of all, due to the fact that it is one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and an immortal architectural masterpiece that shows the most beautiful creations of Mughal architecture, which is based on the combination of Turkish, Persian, and Ottoman architecture , And Indian. From a spiritual and emotional standpoint, the Taj Mahal appears as a glamorous architectural edifice that summarizes the great love and loyalty story between the Mughal Emperor King Shah Jahan and his third wife Juman Banwikum known as Mumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal carried this name in relation to Mumtaz Mahal, and commemorated its memory, as the construction of this building was the desire of her husband, the Emperor Shah Jahan, to fulfill her last wish before her death, as she died while laying to her fourteenth child, and her remains were placed in a grave inside the Taj Mahal in Part located under his dome, and this part also included the tomb of Emperor King Shah Jahan nearby from his wife’s grave, and both graves are decorated with gilded motifs and inscriptions.

History and architectural description of the Taj Mahal

The construction of the Taj Mahal began by order of King Shah Jahan in 1632 AD, and was completed in 1653 AD. It was developed by the architectural and construction designs of the architect Isa Khan Shirazi of Persian origin, and was shared by a group of skilled engineers, and the Taj Mahal consists of several parts, and these parts she:

  • The shrine: It is the main axis of the building, and is built of white marble and raised on a large square-shaped terrace.
  • Iwan: It is an arched entrance with a large dome.
  • Many entrances and Al Bahahs.
  • Minarets: They are four minarets surrounding the grave.
  • The Marble Dome: It is the most creative part of the Taj Mahal, and it is a large dome surrounded by smaller domes than it, all of which take on the bulbous shape.
  • Long towers with balconies at the top.
  • Garden: which was intended to be designed in its current unique shape, to be a picture of the committee, including its trees and water fountains.

It is worth noting that the Taj Mahal needed to be built for nearly twenty thousand workers and builders, and it was later included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1983 AD.
