Teotihuacan Pyramid
Teotihuacan is one of the ancient archeological cities located near Mexico City in central Mexico, as it is called “Teotihuacan”, it was prosperous between the period (200 AD-750 AD). There are several pyramids in the city for the moon and the sun, and some palaces, burials, and residences, and an area of approximately twelve square kilometers.
The city center consists of a long street called “Azteci”, and there are several small temples on both sides of this street, in addition to the Teotihuacan pyramid, which is called the massive pyramid of the sun east of the street, and a courtyard called by the Spaniards “Ciudadela”, and the temple “Kiwanis Quatel”, as well as At the end of the street is a palace surrounded by the buildings of the temples, and there is another pyramid, the “Pyramid of the Moon”.
Its history
The discoveries that have been found suggest that the region’s history may go back to one or two centuries BC, and its buildings were at first as a chessboard with heights reaching (2300) meters above sea level, then housing and palaces were built in it, and one of its oldest pyramids is the “Pyramid of the Sun”; it is built Of the soil, and the area of the Egyptian pyramid “Khufu” is equal to its area, but it is shorter.
The length of this pyramid reaches about sixty-two meters, and on top of it is a temple that still exists despite all the catastrophes that passed through it, and it is believed that it was built on a point from which the sun sets in the summer solstice, and therefore it was called the sun pyramid, and there is the pyramid of the smaller moon that reaches its length to (40) meters.
Architectural Design
The city is orthogonally designed, and it resembles modern cities in its design, and large complexes were built in them identical to the original architectural design, and these complexes include a number of open courtyards, in addition to a small temple for the people of the complex, the architectural feature of these complexes is called “Thalidou Tablidou, and there are (360) Head of statues on the number of days of the year.
Discoveries
Archaeologists found several neighborhoods where craftsmen and workers lived in, where they found weapons and tools made of “obsidian”, which are volcanic materials similar to glass of solid black color, and some tools made of gold and dirt were found, and they found some drawings and pictures of the gods on The walls of palaces and temples carved in rock are made of turquoise stones, seashells and veins of pearls.
Mysteries revolve around him
Among the riddles that are raised around this pyramid are: How and why was it built? And who ordered to build it? Who are the indigenous people? What is his original name? Where the region was deserted during the Aztec time, their capital “Tenochtitlan”, which is about (50) kilometers southbound from it. There are several tunnels dug towards the pyramid using stone aggregates used in the burial, consisting of small statues dating back to the pre-classical period, and this indicates that this pyramid belongs to that period.
