The Aswan Museum was opened on the island of Elephantine, which is located in the southeastern side of the city of Aswan, in the year 1912 AD.
The museum, which contains artifacts from Nubia discovered during the construction of the Aswan Dam in 1990, is considered one of the most important tourist destinations in Egypt.
A new section has been opened in the museum to display items discovered on Elephantine Island itself, such as utensils, weapons, pottery and mummies.
The Aswan Museum is located near the ruins of Abu, and the main part of it is located in the villa of Sir William Wilcox, the architect of the ancient Aswan Dam.
An entire hall to the right of the museum’s main entrance is dedicated to displaying the ark and mummy of the sacred ram, the animal associated with Khnum.
