Coyaba River Garden and Museum
A museum that introduces history in a beautiful garden setting filled with turtles and fish. A small local history museum featuring exhibits of rare maps and antiques from the past.
Also on site is Mahoe Falls, Falls over the Rocks and a great spot for swimming. Panoramic views of Ocho Rios Bay can be enjoyed. Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Across the road to the Dan River waterfalls in Ocho Rios, the dolphin cove which is very popular with tourists is three acres of sea and a dolphin park, shark, where visitors can snorkel or kayak and swim with dolphins surrounded by rainforests. As well as watching marine creatures, animal lovers can visit duck, snakes, and tropical birds on a hiking trail forest.
Built in the middle of the 19th century it serves as the home of the Methodist pastor and is one of the buildings in Ocho Rios. Opened in 1981 after a year’s restoration, it received international fame as an art and craft gallery. There are regular exhibitions during the winter season, featuring the works of Jamaica’s finest painters and sculptors, and represent over 100 artists and people crafts.
The gift shop includes a range of prints, ceramics, books and perfumes. Encouraging excellence in Jamaican art and craftsmanship was the original motivation for opening this room. Visitors can enjoy a meal in a popular Italian downstairs restaurant. Open every day: 10:00 to 6:00, admission is free.
In Blue Hole, in lush mountains outside Ocho Rios, nature lovers can soak in the refreshing jungle ponds fueled by a series of waterfalls. Guides lead visitors on the smooth rocks to look at high points from the rocks where they can jump into the blue pools below.
