In the context of the efforts made to make Dubai a developed and distinctive city, Dubai Municipality launched the first public beach for night swimming, which is the first beach of its kind in the world and is located in Umm Suqeim, one km away from the Burj Al Arab Hotel.

The beach is distinguished by its unique and environmentally friendly design, as it depends only on its clean operation generated from the wind and sun. The beach provides residents and visitors of Dubai city the opportunity to enjoy a unique and enjoyable experience of night swimming in the Gulf waters in a safe environment and meets all requirements of security and safety.

Eng. Lighting Dubai’s first night swimming beach with clean energy

Engineer Alia Abdul Rahim Al Harmoudi, Director of Environment Department in Dubai Municipality, talked about the advantages of two smart lighting masts on one Umm Suqeim beach, and said that the one mast is 12 meters high and provides lighting for a distance of 120 meters and a depth of 50 meters inside the sea water And each mast can generate 1.5 kilowatts of electricity per day using wind and sun energy, according to Harmoudi.

Sariyat, Dubai’s first night swimming beach, is weather-resistant

Al-Harmoodi added that the masts were made of strong plastics and are resistant to harsh weather conditions. Warnings in the form of moving phrases and the colors of flags that are usually raised on the beaches to warn swimmers, for example, when the red color lights up, this indicates the danger of swimming and not being allowed, and when the flag is raised yellow this indicates the possibility of swimming with caution.

Al Harmoodi also said that the launch of a beach for night tourism in Dubai is expected to have a significant positive impact in raising general satisfaction rates among citizens, in addition to supporting the tourism movement in Dubai, of which beach tourism is a large part.
