The geographical location of the city of Tanta

The city of Tanta is located 93.34 km to the north side of Cairo, with a population of 445,560 people, it is also close to the city of Alexandria, and it is located in the middle of Gharbia Governorate, and Tal Makadam is 40 km from the southeast of Tanta, and overlooks the right side of Damietta, and Tanta is the fifth largest city in Egypt.

The city of Tanta is distinguished for its religious features and distinguished educational institutions, including the following:

  • Mosque and tomb of Ahmad al-Badawi: Where the Bedouin is one of the most important Islamic Almoravids in the thirteenth century, a cleric, and was born in the Moroccan city of Fez.
  • Islamic schools: These schools are linked to the Ahmadi Mosque.
  • Arab College of Al-Ahmadi: Founded in 1276 AD, it is the oldest Egyptian school, it was named the Ankara Institute, and in 1769 AD it was reorganized as a subsidiary of Al-Azhar University in Cairo.
  • Tanta University: Founded in 1972 AD, this university offers several courses in the fields of agriculture, engineering, trade, and other fields.
  • Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences: The year 1972 witnessed the establishment of a branch of the Sadat Academy for Administrative Sciences, and this academy is located in the city of Tanta.
  • The famous Tanta museum: The Tanta Museum consists of a rich and distinguished group of monuments dating back to the Pharaonic era, and these monuments are still preserved to the present day. It is worth mentioning that the city of Tanta deserves to be the seat of the great capital of the Coptic Church.
  • Note: Tanta was one of two Coptic bishops established in 1895 by the leadership of the Patriarch of Alexandria.
