The origin of the city dates back to the year one thousand nine hundred and fifty AD, and that was after the establishment of many services, such as the construction of a special oil pumping station, and a special housing for workers based on the station, and a hospital with good services, and then many citizens of the province of Najd began, then many citizens of the Kingdom began to come From another province, such as Al-Jouf, and Al-Ahsa, to live in the city.
And the city began to expand something by mistake with the advent of the Bedouins, and the emergence of the law of loans and free lands in the beginning of the year one thousand nine hundred and seventy-six AD, and the main reason behind the name of the city by this name is due to the name of the valley that extends from the southern parts to the northeastern parts of the city, and the valley is known as Wadi Arar.
