The revelation
The revelation was revealed to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in a cave of Hira in the mountain of light while he was worshiping in it, so Gabriel, peace be upon him, said to him the first verse revealed from the Qur’an: “Read”, so the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, answered what I am a reader – that is, I do not know how to read – so the Prophet prayed God, peace and blessings be upon him, was an illiterate who could not read and write, so he repeated the matter three times, then the rest of Surat Al-Alaq came down, and from here the Muhammadan call began and the assignment of the Holy Messenger began with the mission of the message.
Light mountain
Jabal Al-Nur One of the mountains surrounding the Sacred House is located in the east of the Sacred House in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, within the Hijaz mountain range, rises above the sea surface six hundred and forty-two meters, which is approximately two thousand and one hundred and ten feet, and Jabal Al-Nur is characterized by its steep slope, With a summit at the top in the form of a camel hump, its area is five square kilometers.
His religious status
Inside Jabal al-Nur is a cavity in the form of a naturally carved cave in the mountain, with an area of five square cubits, and it accommodates five men sitting next to each other, and this cavity has a door on the north side, known as the Ghar Hira.
The cave of Hira is the cave in which the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, was worshiped during the days of pre-Islamic times, where he was heading to the cave of Hira, and he stayed in it for several days, contemplating the Kingdom of God and the universe and the sky ascetic in the world, for the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, before the mission was denied. Worshiping deaf idols, with his common sense, and therefore he was directed to the cave to be alone and to worship and meditate.
During the worshiping of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the cave of Hira, in Jabal al-Nur, Gabriel, peace be upon him, descended for the first time, announcing the descending of the last heavenly messages on the Arab Prophet, a light that indicates the world to guidance, to circulate throughout the globe to this day, so this mountain was known as Jabal Al-Nur or a mountain Islam.
Visit it
There are many reasons to visit Jabal al-Nur, including to sanctify and take blessing, and allow it to seek blessing and wellness, respond to supplication, fulfill aspirations and demands, recover from illness, and raise calamities, all of these and other things are not based on validity, and they are among the forbidden things that are created in Islamic religion; It is not permissible to be blessed or begged with a stone, or place, no matter how holy it is, and its religious status in the souls, for benefit and harm is in the hand of God alone.
But if the visit is a historical and cultural landmark, as it is the place of worship of the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and the place of revelation, there is nothing wrong with that as long as the visit is free from the intention of being blessed or sanctified.
